It’s unfair that once someone comes out as being gay that a lot of people automatically turn each and everything they do into their sexual preference. If they’re a gay male they are automatically having gay sex with all of their male friends when they leave the room or go somewhere alone together.
Another thing is people automatically assume that they are attracted to every person of the same sex. Some girls get weary of hanging around their ‘freshly out of the closet’ female friend because they think she will develop a crush on them. That is ridiculous. That’s like saying if she was straight then she would be attracted to any straight male who crosses her path or is her friend.
One more thing that really grinds my gears is when people start referring to them as their ‘gay friend’ in casual conversation. It’s not even a way to distinguish them from anybody else…they just say it. You telling me that your gay friend just texted you is irrelevant. Why can’t they just be your friend who texted you? What does their personal sex life have anything to do with it?
They had enough guts to admit something that has gotten countless people killed, severely injured, rejected, abandoned, ridiculed, tormented, mocked, fired from their work place, etc. so the least you can do is give them some fucking respect and treat them just as you did before they came out.
